"The Audacity of You!" outlines situations of human inconsideration. Through a series of anecdotes, author Dominique Wilkins explores real-life scenarios where the victim’s response could only be, “The audacity of you!”
While the book has the potential to deteriorate into a rant about perceived slights and offenses, instead it takes a lighthearted look at the stories of those who dared such behavior. Readers will identify with, laugh at, and shake their heads when they read about Eugene’s experience with a fellow gambler’s lack of loyalty, or miserly Ernesha who refuses to share, but constantly expects handouts from others. The nerviest tale may be of seventy-two-year-old May who shovels her driveway while younger neighbors look on and then take advantage of her labor!
These and many other stories will leave you shaking your head in disbelief and muttering, “The Audacity of You!” Dominique Wilkins has used actual events to demonstrate the extent of human’s rudeness, inconsideration, and downright unkindness toward friends, family, and neighbors. You’ll identify with the stories and want to contribute a “The Audacity of You!” tale or two from your own experiences. Indeed, the appeal of this book lies in the fact that we’ve all been there. Whether you read either one scenario at a time or cover to cover, “The Audacity of You!” will leave you shaking your head in disbelief but chuckling too!

The Audacity of You! A Collection of Short Audacity Tales edition by Dominique Wilkins Literature Fiction eBooks

This book is a collection of short stories, each scenario a relatable story of one person doing something selfish, or simply uncalled for. At the end of most is a scriptural reminder of why such behavior should not occur. I enjoyed the scenarios, and the inclusion of actual Bible verses is a signature trait of this author's that endears me to her. My difficulty with this book was that the stories were disjointed and it caused the feeling of "pamphlet reading" vs the reading of an actual collection. It would have been good to see some transition or connection between the stories. Otherwise, another enjoyable read by a fantastic author.

The Audacity of You! A Collection of Short Audacity Tales edition by Dominique Wilkins Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

As I have become a huge fan of hers, Dominique has used her wit and love for people to remind us all HOW NOT TO ACT! The stories are short, funny and to the point. I plan to stay tuned for more great work from her.
This book has several short stories that talk about what types of circumstances we encounter with people we know in our daily lives. Its about how bold people are to say and do things without thinking or just do things to annoy or shock us cause we do not expect for them to put us in uncomfortable positions. I laughed as I read this book because the situations in these short stories can be true in our lives cause I was able to relate them to my life. Some people just dont care how you feel and hurt us without knowing they are hurtings us when they speak or act towards us. The audacity of them... This is a must read book if your constantly being shocked on the audacity of people speaking or doing things and not seeing how it can reflex on you and others.
Before you decide to read this book, you need to understand the meaning of the word "Audacity."The definition of Audacity is boldness or daring, especially with confident or arrogant disregard for personal safety, Conventional thought, or other restrictions. It can also mean effrontery or insolence; shameless boldness. An example of that, "His questioner's audacity shocked the lecturer."All of the short stories in this book deal with the audacity of that particular person's behavior. This book is a collection of short stories, each scenario a engaging drama of one person doing something that is self-centered or simply inappropriate. The author puts scriptures at the end of each story that remind us that such behavior is unacceptable at all. Dominique allows God guide her pen to write these short dramas to minister to her reader on how to be on their best behavior. If you are expecting a happy ending to each story then you will be disappointed. Dominque wanted to show you how your self-centered behavior can affect someone. The purpose of this book was written to illustrate with the primary understanding of individuals not really thinking through their actions and how not to act. This was my first book that I read by Dominque Wilkins. I was able to read this book in an hour. The book was so short but it was some great lessons that we can learn from.
*Dominique Wilkins did give me a copy of this book free without the guarantee from me that I will give her a great review. This review is my honest opinion about this book.
The Audacity of You is a disconnected series of essays by Dominique Wilkins that share only one common thread – the audacity of human interactions. With Bible verses interspersed, one assumes to illustrate the religious grounding of the stories, they introduce us briefly to such diverse characters as Juan Deau (aka John Doe) Conners, who prefers to be called J.D. or Baby Boy, Nesha’ Chanel, who started out in life as Ernesha Owen, and a host of other characters that are all ‘smaller than life.’ We’re treated to their views on the audaciousness of others – while at the same time, they show their own bald-faced boldness without apparently even being aware of it.
I received a free copy of Audacity for review, and from the opening lines I thought I would follow the life of the three-year-old narrator as he came to grips with the unusual moniker his unthinking parents had bestowed upon him. Alas, other than his griping, I was to be disappointed, and left wondering how he finally coped. The same could be said of the other characters who parade briefly across the pages of the book. Their situations pique your interest, but somehow, there doesn’t seem to be adequate closure – if I may be excused the audacity of using a current buzz word.
Despite the somewhat tortured grammar, and the lack of closure, it wasn’t an uninteresting book. I only wish Wilkins had taken what to me seems a necessary step of going just a bit deeper into each character and closing the loop.
Instead, I’m left wondering if what the author really intended to do was set the reader up for the sequel – or sequels – to some interest-provoking situations. This has the potential to be a really good book, but just misses for me, so I give it two and a half stars, rounded up to three.
I loved the scenarios and the humor. I love that the author took short stories with the underlying meaning of people not really thinking through their actions and how NOT to act lol

I only wished the stories were longer )
